After a winter break city tours with the nostalgic Büssing bus are on offer again from the 1st of April onwards. The lovingly restored vintage bus heads for sights within and outside the city centre.
With the appearance of the first rays of sunshine the new season of city tours also starts for the Büssing bus, model ‘Präfekt’, year of manufacture 1965. From April onwards the bus does its tour of the sights of Braunschweig for up to 33 guests. The tour starts at the Burgplatz and from there heads south past the Altstadtmarkt. The lion city then shows its green side with the picturesque park around Richmond Palace. The second destination outside the city centre is the medieval minster in the idyllic district of Riddagshausen. From there the bus heads back via the State Theatre to the Residential Palace which is the last part of the round trip. Knowledgeable guides accompany these tours and give information about the sights and tell you some entertaining anecdotes about Braunschweig.
Last year approximately 1800 guests were thus chauffeured to the sights of Braunschweig. Since the end of October the bus has been in the workshops of the company Mundstock for an overhaul to get it ready for the new season. There it was looked after and pampered in order to get it up and running for the season 2010. Now the Büssing bus can be presented to the guests in all its glory from Thursday to Sunday right through to October.
The two hour long round trips start Thursdays and Fridays at 3.30 p.m., Saturdays at 2.00 p.m. and Sundays at 10.30 a.m. Every first Thursday of the month we offer tours for people with restricted mobility or people who are more comfortable with extra help for getting on and off the bus in collaboration with the ‘Malteser Hilfsdienst’. Tickets are available for Euro 14.00 (Euro 7.00 reduced) at the Touristinfo Braunschweig, Vor der Burg 1. Binding reservations can be made under the telephone number (+49 (0)531) 4 70 2040.
