The association for the Braunschweig Film Festival was founded in 1987, according to its bylaws, in order to "promote the cultural standing of films and to encourage the development of a new group of moviegoers".
The Braunschweig Film Festival is now a cultural highpoint of the region which should not be missed and has managed to make a name for itself among German film festivals.
Approx. 170 films are presented, about half of which are current productions. The films are shown in the following cinemas: C1 Cinema and Universum.
