Every year, the squares in front of the castle, the cathedral and the town hall in Braunschweig are transformed into a beautiful Christmas market with a magical atmosphere. With its 300-year tradition, the Braunschweig Christmas Market is one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in Northern Germany. From November 27 until December 29 some 140 artisans and vendors offer specialities of the region and from around the world: wooden toys, Christmas decorations, candles, pottery and glasswork, not to mention all sorts of Christmas delicacies.
Choirs, drama groups and musical ensembles create a colourful cultural programme. Fairy tale readings, a puppet theatre and the Christmas workshop are highlights for every child.
