Sparkling lights, festive music, Christmas greenery and the great variety on offer attract hundreds of thousands of visitors each year, calling the Christmas spirit to life.

Christmas goods and entertainment for Young and Old Christmas tree decorations, pottery and glassware, candles, wooden toys and much, much more create a festive shopping experience. All kinds of winter and Christmas goodies, specialities from Braunschweig and the surrounding region also make a stroll through the Christmas market a culinary delight. The “Platz der Deutschen Einheit” in front of the Rathaus (City Hall) will also be used for the Christmas Market. Over 130 stallholders in a space of around 3000 square meters will present everything your heart desires.

Christmas Entertainment

Trombones and choirs create the spirit of Christmas at the Market with their music. Fairy tales are told, plays performed, pictures painted and puppet shows put on in the Braunschweigische Landesmuseum (State Museum of Braunschweig) located directly at Burgplatz, giving parents the chance to talk to Father Christmas in peace, knowing that their children are being well looked after and entertained.

For the first time the historical area around Dankwarderode Castle will be included in the Christmas Market layout. Several rafts will be placed in the moat on a sparkling surface of light and glass and the castle will be beautifully illuminated. The rafts invite you to linger with music and culinary delights awaiting you.

Organizer: Braunschweig Stadtmarketing GmbH

Remake of the historical moat

A refined lighting system combined with glass split magically returns water’s sparkle onto the original course of the river Oker. Three rafts allow visitors to stand where the water used to flow and reflective, unobtrusive music enhances the relaxed atmosphere even further. more...
