The artisans offer inspiring gift ideas such as handmade wooden products, creative jewellery designs, warming felt and wool products and unique Advent decorations. Culinary specialities from Braunschweig and the surrounding region, as well as festive Christmas delights, provide a treat for the palate.

History of the Braunschweig Christmas Market

The history of the Christmas Market in the Lion City dates back to the year 1505. As one of the most atmospheric and attractive markets in Northern Germany, it attracts large numbers of people to Braunschweig every year. But it is not only the Christmas Market that provides the perfect setting for Christmas celebrations: The entire city centre spreads the magic of the Advent season and extends an invitation to enjoy pre-Christmas shopping in its numerous shops.
