Braunschweig – Hanseatic city on the Oker (for groups only)

Church of St. Martin (Braunschweig Stadtmarketing GmbH/Gerald Grote)

Braunschweig was once a Hanseatic city and was a flourishing trading venue as early as the Middle Ages. What significance did the city have at that time? What evidence of the Hanseatic period can still be found in the cityscape?

This walk will not only introduce you to Braunschweig's historic quarter, the Magniviertel; it also leads you to exceptional architectural testaments in the Aegidien quarter, on the Damm and around the Altstadtmarkt. Along the way, you will discover numerous details on the houses and façades, some of which are still original, whilst your guide tells you everything you want to know about the Lion City at the time of the Hanseatic League.
