Braunschweig was founded approximately 1,000 years ago and roughly 850 years ago Henry the Lion expanded the city and made it his residence. Historical buildings from the Middle Ages right through to modern days bear testimony to the eventful and changing history of the city.

This tour leads you from the Burgplatz (Castle Square) with Braunschweig’s landmark, the lionBurg Dankwarderode (Dankwarderode Castle) and Dom St. Blasii (St. Blasii Cathedral) to the Altstadtmarkt (Old Town Square).

Access to the Burgplatz may be restricted due to other events.

Please note that for the tours with fixed Dates in English tickets must be pre-booked. We reserve the right to cancel tours if the minimum number of participants has not been reached. Please inquire in any case 24 hours before in the Touristinfo Braunschweig, whether the tour takes place.
