Although first documented in 1342, the Kohlmarkt is actually much older and formed one of the first settlements in the area as early as the 10th century. Through to 1544, the St. Ulrici church stood here. Kohlmarkt, with its many cafés, is one of the main meeting places in the pedestrian zone and the scene of many events. Its character comes from the variety of historic façades from different epochs.
