In 2002 a new library for the Braunschweig University of Art was built using elements from the Mexican Pavilion at EXPO 2000. The architects KSP Engel & Zimmermann from Braunschweig planned this unusual building in co-operation with the architect of the Mexican Pavilion, Ricardo Legorreta. HBK students studying Industrial Design developed the furnishings in the reading and lending areas with Prof. Volker Weinert.
