On June 20th, 1896, the siblings Willi (1868-1931) and Elisabeth (1877-?), descendants of Wilhelm Grotrian (1843-1917), married into the family of the successful Braunschweig music publisher Theodor Litolff (1839-1912). Willi married Litolff’s daughter Marie (1875-?); while Elisabeth married his son Richard (1868-1937). The salon grand piano with the serial number 10,000 was specially made for Elisabeth Grotrian on the occasion of her double wedding, which took place in St. Catherine's Church in Braunschweig. The grand piano is made of reddish stained mahogany and richly decorated with carvings.
